Clare enjoys learning and applying toolkits from other disciplines into her work. In 2018, she took time off to complete Shillington's 3 month Graphic Design bootcamp in NYC.
She believes well designed communication makes a company stand out. The training also distinguishes her from other analysts, with stakeholders highly valuing the way she communicates analysis results and insights.
Below are a few selected briefs Clare completed during the course. A highlight was the process of crafting a branding concept or identity, then bringing it to life:
Start up branding concept
City tourism brand identity
Corporate microsite design
Packaging design
(1) Start up branding concept
Client
Fictional streetwear start up
Brief
Design the visual identity and branding concept (including name) for a fictional streetwear start up. The start up offering is an app that provides instant notifications and exclusive access to the latest product drops for dedicated sneaker heads and streetwear fans.
Process
Market research to understand the sneaker market and the types of consumers it attracts (e.g. sneakerheads). Review of current offerings like Supreme and Hype. Brainstorming of three potential concepts by mind mapping words associated wth the market. Scampering of potential logo designs. Settling on a final concept and refining this out.
Solution
Named after the sacred Ben Ben stone of ancient Egypt, the design plays on streetwear as a religion where followers show a deep devotion to the product.
Positioning the brand as mysterious, exclusive and devoted
Extending the brand to dedicated products such as sneaker care.
(2) City tourism brand identity
Client
City of Mumbai, India
Brief
Create a distinct visual identity for a city that is undergoing a period of growth and revitalisation. The identity should attract both locals and travellers alike to experience all the city has to offer.
Solution
The visual concept shows Mumbai as the beating heart of India, a central hub of entertainment and commerce.
Colours and iconography reflect a bold, captivating and vibrant city
The visual identity is applied across a mobile site
